InfraStruxure Management Software - the software for monitoring of the engineering systems of DPCs — a crucial element of architecture of APC InfraStruxure forming the platform of control of a status of engineering infrastructure of a data processing center, open and independent of equipment manufacturers.
New systems capabilities help to save the electric power and to reduce costs thanks to active management of all infrastructure of DPC: the systems of power supply, cooling, distribution of power supply at the level of a rack and also a security system, says APC by Schneider Electric. Use of the software of InfraStruxure allows the specialists servicing DPCs to avoid unplanned idle times and to achieve the maximum energy efficiency of resources of engineering infrastructure, claim in the company. Thanks to a possibility of a full integration with a management system of the enterprise and infrastructure of buildings, software forms a reference platform for monitoring by resources of data processing centers.
Helps to program the new Data Center Lab application for project management of DPCs new or to upgrade the existing data processing centers. Support of "drag and drop" of objects a computer mouse and an instant response to adding of the new equipment, do Data Center Lab optimal by the tool for creation of the project offers including schemes of placement of the equipment in premises, lists of necessary components for expansion, consolidation or construction of data processing centers.
In turn, the Impact Analysis application entering into InfraStruxure Capacity helps to estimate instantly work of the systems of engineering infrastructure of DPC, including distribution of power supply, cooling and functioning of the UPS. The updated solution gives opportunities of the notification of specialists in case of temperature increase or identification of other factors of the environment which can influence work of a computer hardware. The InfraStruxure Operations 6.1 Capacity Manager functions allow to set thresholds, to create specialized reports and to automatically prepare recommendations about the solution of critical problems, including, at transfer of virtual machines, noted in APC by Schneider Electric.
Using the module InfraStruxure Efficiency 1.1 specialists can quickly receive the report on monthly energy consumption of subsystems of DPC, including CO2 given about emissions, energy efficiency (PUE) and efficiency of infrastructure of DPC (DCIE). Calculation of cost of the consumed energy and the number of emissions of CO2 can be configured by the user or is made automatically taking into account information on emissions of CO2 in the local systems of generation of the electric power. The new utility of network management as a part of InfraStruxure Capacity helps to define dependence between different devices, to consider creation of cards of fiber-optical and wired networks from servers through a patch panel to routers and switches. Thus, specialists have an opportunity to obtain the complete information about network condition, it is easy to manage its structure and to exercise control of operation. Interaction in real time between InfraStruxure Operations 6.1 and Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 through PRO Pack can be an example of enhanced capabilities of integration of software. This new feature allows to transfer automatically virtual machines to the reliable and protected basic servers and to monitor compliance between virtual machines and physical servers. Besides, InfraStruxure Operations provides information on critical signals and events of engineering infrastructure (including power supply, cooling, security systems and conditions of the environment), and Virtual Machine Manager will be able to take necessary measures for correction of malfunctions.
In general new features of software of monitoring of InfraStruxure Management Software provide to the specialists servicing DPCs, an opportunity to approve capacities and requirements at the level of servers, a rack and ranks of racks, to perform monitoring of engineering infrastructure of DPC with instant notifications about its status and also to increase overall effectiveness of a data processing center due to reduction of energy consumption and unproductive surplus of power, emphasized in APC by Schneider Electric.
InfraStruxure Management Software Portfolio 6.2
The new version includes updates of the modules InfraStruxure Central Monitoring and InfraStruxure Operations and also integration with the VMware vSphere 4.1 environment is implemented. InfraStruxure Management Software Portfolio 6.2 provides broad support of the open universal platform which is completely satisfying needs of IT specialists for management tools and monitoring by DPC at the expense of process optimization of design, operation, upgrade and management of engineering infrastructure, almost completely excepting "a human factor".
In the InfraStruxure Operations 6.2 software package the improved control functions by networked environment, including the new status report on network which gives complete idea of the available and used network resources are implemented. Thanks to bilateral integration with the VMware vSphere environment customers can quickly detect, the physical location of the virtual machine. In case of failures of electric power supply systems, cooling or status monitoring of the environment automatic migration of virtual machines on operational servers is executed that provides operational uninterrupted operation of work of systems.
One more innovation in a packet of InfraStruxure Operations 6.2 — the function of automatic selection of an optimal configuration of the solution InfraStruxure implemented in InfraStruxure Designer, the advanced instrument of design and a configuration from APC by Schneider Electric. Thanks to this function users had an opportunity to automatically import to the InfraStruxure Operations environment the plan of the room, the equipment layout, characteristics of electric power supply systems and cooling from the InfraStruxure Designer application.
Packet of InfraStruxure Central Monitoring Suite 6.2 — a full-function monitoring system of infrastructure of DPC in real time which quickly is unrolled, controlled from any point of network and is easily integrated with other management systems. Among the supported functions — the consolidated reporting system providing the convenient centralized access to all reports including all data on sensors and on wear of batteries from the moment of installation, information on loading of the UPS registered in a system devices and a status of a physical medium of DPC. The list of other innovations includes the analysis of trends of development of DPC facilitating understanding of perspectives of upgrade of infrastructure on the basis of the history of its loading and use and the configured notifications helping the organization to standardize internal processes and IT procedures.
The packet of InfraStruxure Central 6.2 also includes the utility of migration InfraStruxure Management Migration Utility using which it is possible to transfer quickly information from InfraStruxure Manager to the InfraStruxure Central 6.2 environment.
InfraStruxure Management Software Portfolio 6.2 also expanded opportunities for management and service of systems: InfraStruxure Central Configuration improving installation and setup of devices; the new product Configuration thanks to which the module InfraStruxure Energy Efficiency will become the excellent instrument of efficiency analysis of use of energy in DPC and subsystems; and also InfraStruxure Administrator Training is the improved offer for advanced training of administrators of software of InfraStruxure.
The complex of the software tools InfraStruxure Management Software Portfolio 6.2 is completely compatible to the equipment of third-party producers and is easily integrated into different management systems of DPC.
