The automobile building holding "GAZ Group" completed the works on creation of the information management system for the new plant which will be engaged in serial assembly of cars under the name of Volga Siber. As the platform of automation the Infor ERP LN system (Baan IV) was selected. The project was executed by the international project team which part consultants of the Russian company GMCS [1] (file), specialists of IT service "GAZ Groups" and also the staff of the European office of Infor company and business consultants of the Austrian company Magna Steyr were.

New products of the plant, as envisioned by carmaker, will conform completely to the international standards of the industry and therefore the reference model of Infor company developed especially for the enterprises of automotive industry and which is already used in a number of the leading carmakers of the world was the basis for the information management system.

Let's note that now, according to TAdviser, in GAZ Groups management company an ERR system on the SAP platform is used, and at the automobile plant "Ural" entering into group the Infor ERP LN system is also operated. Nevertheless, as representatives of the company reported, in the company carefully approached the choice of the ERP system for a new production line - market research and the choice of a system took five months. The Austrian company Magna Steyr which is engaged in production of autocomponents and cars was involved in process of goal setting of the project, study of requirements to a system and estimates of different offers and during all project executed a role of the consultant-methodologist.

Based on the preproject analysis, the customer came to a conclusion that functionality of Infor ERP LN most fully considers requirements of the enterprises of automotive industry, providing step-by-step management of the main business processes of automobile production, including purchase of necessary components and inline assembly. Besides, for this project also a solution implementation time as the new production line had to be started just in time were critical.

According to priority of business challenges of the enterprise the project was separated into several phases. Within the first stage begun in July, 2007 problems of maintaining the difficult specification of products, production data and data on work with numerous foreign suppliers with which the plant cooperates directly were solved. Two subsequent phases included process automation of purchase management and planning and also management of a full stroke of production.

Specifics of the implemented solution was control automation by assembly that provided a possibility of planning and operational reflection of pipeline production. According to the company integrator, the fact of inclusion in a circuit of a system of processes of management of assembly testifies to the high level of the organization of business processes of the new plant.

Creation of the information management system was executed less than in 12 months, and at the moment the solution is brought into commercial operation. All users of a system, despite their territorial dissociation, obtain state-of-health data of production processes in real time.

The localized version of the ERP system was finished taking into account specifics of requirements of the specific enterprise. Being the official center of localization Infor ERP LN in Russia, GMCS adapted a system for maintaining tax and accounting according to regulations of the Russian legislation. Nevertheless, on the data which are available for TAdviser, at the moment the ERP system is used "in a sheaf" with an accounting system on the 1C: Enterprise platform.

According to the head of service IT "GAZ Groups" Vladimir Kapustin, the developed project solution can be the basis for creation of management systems at other plants of group that will allow to minimize, on the one hand, costs for implementation, and with another, as much as possible to make use of the accumulated experience. As Vladimir Kapustin noted, in a system it is supposed to integrate to 400 users. In further plans of the company - expansion of functionality the ERP system regarding process automation of sales and formation of orders. The possibility of problem solving of process optimization of planning of cost value of products is also in the long term considered.
