2024: Additional Linux Tools and Support
On March 6, 2024, C3D Labs announced the release of an update to its C3D Viewer product.
According to the company, C3D Viewer is an application in the C3D Labs product line visualization , an easy-to-use 3D geometry tool that allows you to read files in the most common exchange formats: CAD ACIS, IGES, Parasolid, STEP, STL, VRML, JT, OBJ, display the structure and save the model in the format of a geometric C3D kernel or raster image. C3D Viewer is based on components C3D Labs: C3D Converter, C3D Modeler, C3D Vision.
The key update of the application in 2024 is the C3D Viewer version for Linux-based operating systems. The application has been tested on Ubuntu and Astra Linux (x64) operating systems - C3D Viewer works stably.
The following navigation commands have been added to the updated version of the application:
- Moving the camera around the focal point of the model
- Rotating the model around the focus point in any direction
- rotation of the model around the vertical vector, as if the model was located on a vertical platform (such rotation is familiar for viewing buildings and structures).
There are settings for command control, scaling the model, changing the direction of rotation of the mouse wheel. Also added is the choice of how the scene is oriented: the model can be controlled using a coordinate system or cube.
You can select the location of the model view control commands in the application settings. Commands can be enabled on the floating panel or on the tab with all other tools.
It also adds the ability to open models created in later versions of the geometric C3D kernel.
