2024: Sentence - 2 years in prison for stealing 300 thousand rubles from a safe

On March 26, 2024, the Frunzensky District Court of St. Petersburg announced the verdict against Anton Saratov, the senior shift of the pharmacy of Eapteka LLC. The man was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (misappropriation or embezzlement).

According to investigators, Saratov, working at the Eapteki pharmacy on Prague Street in St. Petersburg, conceived of embezzlement of funds. Using his official position, he carried out criminal intent on December 18-19, 2022. The defendant appropriated funds belonging to Eapteka in the amount of 304,568 rubles, some of which he took from the safe in the manager's office.

As noted in the message of the joint press service of city courts, Saratov fully admitted his guilt and on the basis of Art. 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation refused to testify. According to the man himself, the indictment correctly sets out the circumstances of the incident, the time, place, method of committing the crime, the amount of the stolen funds, as well as his actions.

Ch.3 Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for punishment in the form of a fine in the amount of 100 thousand to 500 thousand rubles or in the amount of wages or other income of a convicted person for a period of one to three years. In addition, the criminal may face forced labor for up to five years with restriction of liberty for up to one and a half years or imprisonment for up to six years with a fine. The article also provides for the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to five years.

In the Saratov case, the court sentenced him to imprisonment for a period of two years in a general regime correctional colony, and also recovered 254,569 rubles in favor of Eapteka to compensate for material damage. Saratov was taken into custody in the courtroom immediately.[1]
