2024: Augmented Reality Glasses Testing

The team Inline Group , together with the company RusHydro , successfully tested technologies and devices based on the augmented reality domestic software platform "" ICSAR at two hydroelectric power stations "Kabardino-Balkarian branch "RusHydro - Kashkhatau and Verkhnebalkarskaya. Inline Group announced this on April 1, 2024.

IKSAR is a finished product for industrial use in a wide variety of industries and scenarios for the work of production personnel ("field" employee).

IKSAR allows you to collect a complete digital track of the actions of the production employee, including not only the entire range of work done, but also the location of the employee during the work, the distance traveled, deviations from the time standards for each operation, and much more.

Preparation for the tests took several months. Representatives of the IKSAR team, in close cooperation with experts from the Kabardino-Balkarian branch and the Operation Department of PJSC RusHydro, have developed a comprehensive test program including 5 scenarios and 200 technological operations: visual inspection of the soil dam, remote inspection of the facility, field inspection of the facility, instrumental observations at the head node and switching at power plants.

For testing, the most relevant industrial AR glasses from world manufacturers were selected, including a solution from Moziware - monocular AR glasses Cımō a lightweight design weighing no more than 170 grams, but with all the necessary functionality on board.

The tests continued for 2 days, within which the employees of the Kabardino-Balkarian branch followed step-by-step graphic instructions right in front of their eyes on the AR glasses screen, filled out checklists, took photos and videos, recorded voice comments that were automatically translated into text in the final log, and recorded incidents.

Tests were carried out both on an open site in the current weather conditions, and in the closed rooms of Kashhatau and Verkhnebalkar hydroelectric power station.

HPP employees independently performed all actions on AR glasses in the IKSAR software after a brief briefing on the day the team arrived. Such a rapid pace of preparation for the work of personnel at the hydroelectric power station became possible due, on the one hand, to thorough advance training, and on the other hand, each developed scenario for AR glasses in the convenient user interface "IKSAR" repeated the daily work of hydroelectric power station specialists.

Within the framework of the IKSAR tests, several hypotheses were tested in combination with AR glasses at once: increasing labor productivity due to the use of a digital solution when performing production work in outdoor conditions, reducing the risks of disruption of the technological process, increasing the safety of operation of the facility, as well as reducing the costs and duration of processes.

RusHydro experts highly appreciated the possibilities of using this solution in scenarios related to bypassing and recording measurements, when it is necessary to have at hand all significant information on past measurements, permissible limits of deviations in the performance and recording of measurements.

According to employees, the use of these technologies and devices will help increase labor productivity, reduce the number of iterations of measurements, reduce work with paper media and magazines, and increase the speed of reflection of information "from the fields" to the company's corporate information system.
