2024: Presentation of the complex of testing and training equipment for ground stations

Specialists of the Russian Space Systems Holding (RKS, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) are creating a set of test and training equipment for command and measuring systems of an automated ground-based spacecraft control complex. This equipment has many functions - from checking technical solutions when designing ground stations and testing units of on-board equipment for various purposes to training personnel to work with a command and measurement system. This was reported to the RKS on April 2, 2024.

The software and hardware complex developed by RKS specialists consists of a stationary stand with measuring equipment, a test equipment station and a virtual training class. To monitor and check the operation of on-board satellite systems, a mobile version of the stand with the functionality of a stationary version is being developed.

Own test capacities in the form of a stand-test base will make it possible to test the developed equipment and technologies better, quickly bring them to the specified quality standards and thereby speed up the process of unification and launch of serial production of equipment for ground complex projects. The new approach will reduce the costs of testing, significantly reduce their time, improve the efficiency and quality of personnel training,
said Maxim Shcherbakov, Deputy General Director, General Designer of the RKS for Ground Systems and Complexes.

A stationary test bench is a key tool for monitoring, measuring parameters and testing units of various equipment of ground hardware and communication lines that form radio channels for transmitting and receiving information inside the command and measurement system. The tests will allow assessing the functionality of the equipment during modeling of real operating conditions and additional increased loads. Thus, shortcomings and violations are revealed that can be finalized and promptly eliminated. The stand is universal and takes into account the prospect of development for all types of spacecraft being created, allows personnel training for new ground stations.

An important advantage of the virtual training part of the complex is interactivity and scalability. Situational scenarios and training modules will allow the operator of the command and measurement system to practice actions to control existing and promising spacecraft in various situations. Along with the use of ready-made training courses and programs, the platform can be adapted for other training materials and software.

The test and training complex is planned to be commissioned in 2025.
