2024: Digital Terrestrial Radio System Completed

AMT GROUP, together with Leo Telecom, on April 16, 2024 announced the completion of a project to build a digital ground radio communication system for Chernogorskaya GRK LLC. As a result of the project, the management of the Montenegrin Mining and Processing Complex was able to quickly resolve issues arising during the construction of the mining and processing complex (GOK) in the Norilsk Industrial District, providing employees with modern communications at the construction site.

The digital radio communication system is built on the basis of digital trunking equipment of the NEXEDGE standard manufactured by Kenwood. The equipment of this standard is an optimal choice both in terms of financial and economic indicators and in terms of functionality for objects of the scale of the GOK being created and is used at objects of mining complexes in the Russian Federation and the countries of the former USSR.

Radio communication equipment operates in the frequency range of 400 MHz, which makes it possible to provide the best coverage area of ​ ​ the mountainous terrain of the GOK territory with a relatively small amount of the basic infrastructure of the radio system.

A feature of the built radio communication system for the Montenegrin GRK is the use of antenna-mast structures (AMS) with a height of 30 m with the installation of a design loaded foundation and arctic steel grades. The use of a tight foundation structure during the construction of AMS made it possible to significantly reduce the cost of building foundations in permafrost conditions and significantly reduce the construction time of the radio communication system as a whole.

Radio relay links built on DragonWave Arctic equipment are used to organize the binding of the designed communication network to the communication node (CD) of the existing operator of telecommunication services and tie trunks between radio base stations. The span between the GOC and the telecommunication operator's CD is 19.5 km, the data transfer rate is 560 Mbps in the duplex. The construction of the radio relay line made it possible to organize access to the company's corporate network, the Internet for GOK employees, as well as to ensure the operation of the base station of the cellular operator.

Radio communication equipment is located in specially designed Arctic hardware containers, which allows the technological equipment to operate at temperatures up to -60C °. The equipment containers are equipped with engineering systems and life support systems (including a backup diesel generator with a fuel reserve for several days of continuous operation), which make it possible to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of communication equipment.

The construction of the GOK is carried out "from scratch" and the main task of the project was to provide the production site with all types of communication for the construction period. In the future, after the appearance of the ground communication channel, it is planned to use the RRL channel as a backup communication line. Thanks to the created system, the Montenegrin GRK was able to provide reliable communication in the far north in most of the GOK with the expansion of the coverage to the entire site during the second stage of the project.

The main difficulty in construction was the temporary restrictions on the supply of equipment and materials and the production of construction work due to the short polar summer and two-month navigation season, "said Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Allenov, Deputy General Director of AMT GROUP. - These factors imposed strict requirements for the organization of work and their coordination. The key to the successful implementation of the project was effective project management, taking into account all the nuances: design of solutions taking into account territorial specifics, careful miscalculation of logistics, construction of systems on the site. Thanks to the well-coordinated teamwork of AMT GROUP specialists and involved contractors, we were able to complete all the necessary ground work before the onset of the climatic winter in the region.
