2024: Entering the Russian market

On April 18, 2024, information appeared that the Chinese manufacturer of computer tomographs MinFound was starting to supply products to the Russian market. The import of this medical equipment will be carried out by R-Pharm, one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the Russian Federation.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, MinFound has begun registering its CT scanners in Russia. These are, in particular, devices for positron emission and X-ray computed tomography. Roszdravnadzor received documents for five models of MinFound tomographs - PET/CT 720E, Blue 755, CT 16, CT 128 and QuantumEye 789.

MinFound begins to supply products to the Russian market

International Product Director MinFound Nathan Xu notes that registration of tomographs in Russia is carried out jointly with R-Pharm under the "exclusive license agreement." According to Xu, in the future, the parties intend to expand cooperation and register other products in the Russian Federation. In addition, the possibility of localizing the production of MinFound equipment in Russia is being considered.

The sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation in the current geopolitical situation did not affect medical equipment - world companies continue to supply equipment to Russia for non-military purposes. Nevertheless, there are certain difficulties with the purchase of Western-made tomographs, so distributors switch to Chinese manufacturers. In Russia, MinFound will compete with Siemens Healthcare, GE Healthcare and Philips.

According to MDPro, government purchases of computer tomographs in Russia in 2023 halved compared to the previous year both in physical terms and in money - up to 204 pieces and 9.8 billion rubles. Moreover, according to Eqiva estimates, the share of local tomographs in public procurement is only about 10%.[1]
