Alexey Matveev graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) in 1995.

Career

1995-2023

Immediately after graduating from the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1995, Alexei Matveev got a job at the P.O. Sukhoy Development Bureau (OKB). During his work at this enterprise, he took part in the development of design documentation for the Su-80, Su-30MKI aircraft. As head of the design bureau, he ensured the release of electronic documentation for the 5th generation Su-57 aircraft. In addition, Matveev led the work on the development, maintenance of the construction and flight tests of the Su-57 aircraft.

2024: Appointment as Director of the Mikoyan Design Bureau

In May 2024, Alexey Matveev was appointed director of the development bureau (OKB) of the Mikoyan United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec). In this position, he replaced Andrei Nedosekin, who will continue to work at the enterprise as deputy director.

According to the UAC, the decision to change the head of the OKB was made as part of the corporate transformation of the United Aircraft Corporation. An important part of this process is the unification of the competencies of leading aviation schools in the field of operational-tactical aviation.

Matveev, before being appointed director of the A.I. Mikoyan Design Bureau, served as deputy director of the Sukhoi Design Bureau for design - head of the design bureau. He has "significant experience in the aircraft industry," the UAC noted. Alexey Matveev will combine his new position at the Mikoyan Design Bureau with the position of director of the Scientific and Technical Center for Supercomputing Technologies.[1]
