Dyson has launched a smart electric mop WashG1 for wet floor cleaning. This was reported on May 13, 2024 by Wired.

Two water tanks are built into the mop - for clean and dirty. Water moistens rotating rollers with microfiber material containing 64,800 fibers per square centimeter, which are able to remove both wet debris and dry. The cost of the gadget is $700. The mop is expected to enter the market in the fall of 2024.

The advantage of a mop is that it is capable of collecting dry and loose debris. This usually requires a vacuum cleaner. Thus, the process of cleaning floors is halved, since now it can be done with one device. Previously used in Dyson vacuum cleaners, Dyson's new adapted Omni-Glide system makes it easier to control the mop, allowing it to be easily rotated in any direction.

Most of us vacuum the floor regularly. And while wet cleaning is considered essential, many don't understand why it is needed. Cleaning with water is very important for moistening surfaces and air, as well as removing ingested spots - commented on the announcement of the gadget Charlie Park, vice president of Dyson Home Engineering.

Depending on the difficulty of cleaning, clean water moisturizes rollers with different frequencies. When scrolling rollers on the floor, water is squeezed into a mini tanker for dirty water. The size of the tankers is 27 ounces (about 800 ml). In addition, the mop has a self-cleaning function after cleaning. Dyson claims that the WashG1 can wash the floor in up to 288 square meters at a time.

The experts of the publication note the conceptual similarity of the new gadget with a wet vacuum cleaner Dyson V15s Submarine. The advantage of the WashG1 is the size of the water tanker - in the vacuum cleaner it is only 8 ounces (about 250 ml). However, experts note that the vacuum cleaner copes with the same tasks as the new mop.^[1]
