Building block system of cooling of EcoBreeze with indirect evaporation and direct air heat exchange. A new system gives a unique opportunity of automatic switching between direct air and indirect vaporizing heat exchange, providing cooling of data processing centers most efficiently.

Construction of EcoBreeze allows to reduce energy consumption, using for economic cooling of DPCs a difference of temperatures between the surrounding fresh air and air returned from a computer hardware. EcoBreeze conforms to requirements of efficiency and profitability of ASHRAE 90.1/TC 9.9, and system options with a different power, tension and number of phases of power supply allow to satisfy the needs for cooling of any DPC. EcoBreeze includes the proportional feed system of R410a coolant and the built-in system of water treatment excluding need for chemical treatment of water. These features allow to prevent the environmental problems inherent in many systems using coolant or water.

Modern DPCs constantly extend while the energy companies set tight restrictions on increase in power. Therefore there is an urgent need in reduction of energy consumption of DPCs due to economy and increase in energy efficiency. EcoBreeze satisfies to requirements of data processing centers, implementing several methods of economy in each module. The device installed outside DPC uses advantages of local climate and can automatically switch between two methods of cooling:

  • Direct air heat exchange — a hot air from a computer hardware of DPC is pumped over by the electronic switched fans via internal channels of the indirect vaporizing cooler (IEC). After initial cooling air from a computer hardware comes out IEC, passes through a coil of cooling and returns to a data processing center.
  • Indirect vaporizing heat exchange — heat moves away from an incoming air due to evaporation of water from the outer side of channels of the heat exchanger. EcoBreeze eliminates contact of fresh air with air in DPC at any used cooling mode (direct air or indirect evaporating).


The EcoBreeze system using "natural" cooling ("indirect" freecooling) already well proved in practice as meets constantly raising requirements to energy efficiency of DPCs. For the maximum energy efficiency of cooling of DPC during the whole year of EcoBreeze it is capable to perform several methods of conditioning: direct air heat exchange (for cooling the electronic switched fans are used only, the air economizer of the EcoBreeze system works in the recuperator mode), indirect and vaporizing cooling (heat is removed due to evaporation of water in a flow of street air from the outer side of channels of the heat exchanger), and when exceeding ambient temperature of a threshold of +27 °C is connected a freon circuit which compressor has frequency regulation. EcoBreeze is delivered in the form of the ISO modules 6 m long (20 feet) and 12 m (40 feet). Modular construction allows to scale a system on refrigerating capacity up to 400 kW with a step of 50 kW. The system of intellectual management and the reserved components of air EcoBreeze economizers provide high reliability and readiness of the cooling system of DPC at temperature change of the environment. Application of EcoBreeze together with other energy efficient components of engineering infrastructure of DPC allows to reach values of annual average PUE of all data center within 1,25_1,3.
