Biography

2024: Sentence - 5.5 years in a maximum security colony for bribes

The former chief physician of the neuropsychiatric dispensary of hospital No. 71 in the city of Ozersk, Vladimir Kichatov, was sentenced to five and a half years in a maximum security colony and a fine of six million rubles. This was reported on May 23, 2024 by the publication "Chelyabinsk. Online."

The defendant pleaded guilty to systematically receiving bribes from relatives of patients. The total amount of offerings received amounted to 1.8 million rubles. Despite the guilty plea, remorse and assistance to the investigation, the convict received a prison term.

It was established that the defendant from January 2017 to July 2023 systematically received bribes from relatives of patients for assistance in prolonged hospitalization, or for hospitalization without the consent of the patients themselves, said Natalya Mamaeva, senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Chelyabinsk region.

After the announcement of the verdict, the arrest on Kichatov's property was upheld, and the funds seized during the searches were confiscated and turned into an additional penalty in the form of a fine.

Vladimir Kichatov was detained at the end of July 2023. A month earlier, he resigned from hospital No. 71, where he headed a psychiatric dispensary, of his own free will. According to investigators, Kichatov sent patients for long-term compulsory treatment for money from relatives. According to the publication URA.ru, Kichatov collaborated with the investigation and revealed many bribe-givers.
