2024: Entering the Russian market

The Chinese car brand VGV in May 2024 announced its entry into the Russian market. Initially, two mid-size crossovers will be presented in the Russian Federation - U75 Plus and U70 Pro. The start of sales is scheduled for June 2024.

VGV (Victory Go Victory) is a company founded in 2019. It is part of the Chinese engineering concern CNHTC, known in Russia for its Sinotruk trucks. The distributor of VGV in the domestic market is Motor Place, which was previously involved in the supply of Honda cars.

VGV U70 Pro

According to the manufacturer, the U75 Plus and U70 Pro crossovers are 4825mm long and 2800mm wheelbase, comparable to models such as the Kia Sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe. The appearance of the cars was developed by the German design bureau, the name of the chief stylist was not disclosed.

Crossovers are distinguished by a spacious interior with transformation capabilities comparable to minivans. The basic U70 Pro package includes LED optics, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors and multimedia on Android. The U75 Plus adds an all-round camera and a falling center console to this.

The technical characteristics of the cars are as follows: U70 Pro is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine (143 hp) and can be equipped with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The U75 Plus has a 2.0-liter 199-horsepower engine paired with an 8-band ZF automatic. Both models have only front drive.

The company focuses on the adaptation of machines to Russian conditions: winter package, increased clearance (up to 200 mm for U70 Pro), anti-corrosion treatment and adjustment for AI-92 fuel.

The production of crossovers will be established at the Unison plant in Belarus. According to the Motor Place portal, the main feature of the new VGV products will be their price tag. The cost of the basic version of U70 Pro will be 2.1 million rubles, and U75 Plus will cost at least 2.75 million rubles. Thus, these are the most affordable mid-size crossovers on the Russian market - at a price comparable to B-segment models.[1]
