2024: Cheating by phone scammers

On May 28, 2024, it became known that the former general director of the CSKA handball club Anatoly Volosov was a victim of telephone scammers. The attackers lured 330 thousand rubles from him under the pretext that he broke the site with prostitutes.

According to the Telegram channel Baza, the incident occurred when 59-year-old Volosov, who on the specified date holds the position of adviser to the deputy chairman of the Dynamo society, was looking for a massage therapist on the Internet. According to the man himself, his shoulder became very ill, in connection with which he urgently needed the help of a specialist. Having found a site suitable for the description, Volosov made a call to the specified telephone number: at the other end of the line, he was given a price for all possible services. As soon as the man realized what kind of services were in question, he immediately interrupted the conversation and turned off.

After some time, Volosov received a call, during which a certain Abdullah informed him that an order had already been formed in the name of the man. It is allegedly impossible to abandon it, since in this case "all the logistics of the movement of funds" on the site will be violated. Volosov, as noted by the Telegram channel Baza, decided not to enter into disputes with the resource administrator and turned off again.

However, the next day, the scammers began to attack the man with calls, convincing him that by his actions he "broke the site." After numerous conversations, Volosov agreed to compensate for the damage and transferred 330,000 rubles to the extortionists. After some time, the man realized that he had been deceived, and turned to law enforcement for help. Volosov wrote a statement to the police about the fraud. As of the end of May 2024, there is no information on whether the operatives managed to identify the identity of the telephone ransomware.[1]
