In 2023 , Kh5 switched its stores to a new network architecture, according to the company's annual report, published in May[1]. The outdated architecture no longer met the requirements for protecting the group from cyber threats. The network architecture was completely redesigned, as a result of which a universal conceptual approach was developed.
As TAdviser explained in the Kh5, in particular, previously there was no necessary segmentation between stores and the corporate network. It was implemented. Now the necessary limitation of the network interaction between stores and other segments of the corporate network is provided.
To ensure segmentation, solutions that meet the requirements of the law are used. We are not ready to name manufacturers and technologies for security reasons, they say in the Kh5. |
In one of the vacancies for this project, published on the HH recruiting portal in 2023, it was noted that its scale is all stores of all retail chains of the company, which is more than 20 thousand objects. In addition to improving security, among the advantages of switching to a new network architecture, it indicates that it will prevent store subnets from running out of address capacity.
The requirements for a network engineer for the project then indicated knowledge of routing protocols at the Cisco CCNP level, and the plus counted work with the equipment of new vendors (for example, Eltex). Earlier, Kh5 reported that in connection with the departure of Cisco from Russia, Eltex will supply the necessary devices for opening and updating stores, distribution centers and offices.
The project for the transition to a new network architecture was implemented by X5 Tech, a subsidiary of X5. It was carried out without interrupting business processes, according to the annual report.
