2024: Rost Group bought the Gusinoozersky greenhouse complex for hundreds of millions of rubles

The Rost group of companies became the owner of the Gusinoozersky greenhouse complex, the Buryatia construction of which began in 2018 and was suspended. This was reported Kommersant by "" on May 31, 2024.

According to the publication, the value of the transaction is estimated in the range from 300 to 800 million rubles. The main prospects of the complex depend on access to affordable energy resources and contracts with large retailers, experts interviewed by the newspaper say.

Rost Group of Companies became the owner of the Gusinoozersky greenhouse complex

According to the publication, control over LLC TK Gusinoozersky passed to the TTR holding, and LLC MC Rost will manage. Co-owners of these companies are Sergey Rukin and Dmitry Lashin. Earlier, the owner of Gusinoozersky was LLC UK Ecoinvest, controlled by Valery and Konstantin Garipov, who conduct agribusiness in Yakutia.

The Gusinoozersky project includes the construction of a greenhouse complex on an area of 10.5 hectares with the planned annual production of 9.8 thousand tons of vegetables, such as cucumbers and tomatoes. Initial investments were estimated at 2.1 billion rubles, with an expected payback period of four years. However, construction was suspended due to problems with raising credit funds.

Alexey Sitnikov, President of the Association "Greenhouses of Russia," noted that the cost of building greenhouses in 2024 with lighting and an energy center is 400-450 million rubles per hectare. In his opinion, investments in Gusinoozersky could reach 4.5-5 billion rubles. In 2023, the total harvest of vegetables in greenhouses in Russia amounted to 1.68 million tons, which is 5% more than in the previous year.

Tamara Reshetnikova, General Director of Growth Technologies, emphasized the prospects of the project in Gusinoozersk, given the lack of year-round vegetable production in Buryatia. Currently, supplies are carried out by small farms, whose technological capabilities are limited.

Alexey Sitnikov added that in the autumn-winter period in the Far East there is a shortage of fresh vegetables, which is compensated by supplies from other regions. However, transporting cucumbers and tomatoes over such distances greatly increases their cost. Local manufacturers have the advantage of reducing logistics costs.

Sitnikov noted that the main risks of the Gusinoozersky project are associated with a shortage of energy resources and low engineering infrastructure in the region. The investor will not be able to solve these problems on his own. The success of the project will depend on access to cheap energy sources and long-term contracts with federal retailers.[1]
