2024: Arrest in the case of embezzlement of 2 billion rubles from the FIU

At the end of May 2024, it became known that the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow took into custody the former director of the federal postal service of Ingushetia, Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov, the brother of the head of the republic, Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov. The man is suspected of fraud and embezzlement of about 2 billion rubles as part of the organized crime community (Articles 159 and 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to the materials of the case, according to the Kommersant newspaper, the organized crime community (OPS) was created by the head of the republican branch of the Pension Fund of Russia (PFR) Islam Seynaroyev and the head of the Ingush branch of the Russian Post Kambulat Sukiev. In total, more than 30 people were involved in criminal activities, including senior officials of social institutions and most of the heads of post offices in cities and villages of the republic.

According to the investigation, former and current employees of the regional pension service and the Russian Post branch in Ingushetia systematically stole the PFR budget funds, introducing inaccurate information about the accrual of one-time payments to pensioners into payment documents. The size of such payments could exceed 500 thousand rubles per month per person. The money received fraudulently was then cashed out through the settlement accounts of the Russian Post. According to the investigating authorities, in total, approximately 2 billion rubles were stolen from the budget.

In early June 2024, the head of Ingushetia, Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, confirmed that his brother was detained in a criminal case. According to him, the law is the same for everyone, and therefore the court will make a decision.

Indeed, my brother is detained. As part of the investigation, an investigative check is being carried out, and a court decision will be made based on its results. As my brother, this event is very upsetting, but the law is the law, "said Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov.[1]
