2024: Car recall due to broken brakes

In mid-June 2024, the company Chrysler owned Stellantis recalled more than 211 thousand SUVs and pickups due to USA a malfunction software that can disable electronic brake systems.

A number of Dodge Durango, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500,2022 models were reviewed. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, due to a software malfunction, the brake anti-lock control module can fail, which disrupts the stabilization system and can lead to an accident.

As a solution to the problem, dealers will update the anti-lock brake control module software for free. Notification letters to dealers and car owners will be sent out on July 26. If there are any questions or concerns, Stellantis recommends customers contact their dealers or Chrysler's vehicle recall assistance center.

In a statement, a spokesman for Stellantis noted that the company took up the investigation based on the results of a "regularly conducted review of customer feedback." As a result, a software problem was found in a number of cars, but Chrysler did not record accidents or injuries associated with this malfunction. However, the company is "urging customers to follow the instructions in the recall notices," a Stellantis spokesperson added.

Chrysler expects a total of a software update to need to be installed on 211,581 vehicles produced between April 2021 and December 2022. They include 524 Ram 3500, 157,890 Ram 2500 and 53,167 Dodge Durangos.[1]
