2023: Production growth of water filters in Russia by 3.7% to 95.8 million units
In 2023 Russia , about 95.8 million filters for drinking water were produced, which is 3.7% more than the previous year, when a decline was recorded. The industry began to recover, according to the BusinesStat review published on February 9, 2024.
The report examines wash water filters, as well as jugs with a mounted cartridge and filter bottles. Among the significant market players are named Akvafor, BVT Barrier Rus, Aquatoria, Baromembrane Technology and MS Plast.
In 2019, according to BusinesStat estimates, 84.2 million household filters for drinking water were manufactured in the Russian Federation. In 2020 and 2021, there was an increase of 2% and 8.8%, respectively, to 85.9 million and 93.5 million units. The increase in output is due to the growing demand for these products in the domestic market. Insufficient quality of tap water leads to the need for additional treatment. Moreover, thanks to developed production technologies, the quality of filters manufactured in Russia is not inferior to foreign counterparts, and therefore domestic products occupy a leading position in the market.
In 2022, a decrease in the volume of filter production by 1.2% was recorded - to 92.4 million units. Against the background of the formed geopolitical situation and rising prices, the demand for water treatment products decreased. In addition, there were interruptions in the supply of raw materials (activated carbon from coconut shells, specialized plastic, ion-exchange resins, etc.). Additional difficulties are due to the limited availability of imported equipment and spare parts for it. But already in 2023, the industry returned to growth: the supply of raw materials was established quite quickly - part is purchased from alternative suppliers in other countries, and part is purchased directly in Russia.[1]
