2024: Product Announcement

In May 2024, it became known about an unmanned aerial vehicle that uses ultrasonic (UZ) technology to check concrete structures. This is the development of the Italian company Neabotics.

The robotic complex consists of a drone that can tilt at different angles, as well as a special measuring tool that is installed at the front or top of the main structure. This tool provides several sensors (load sensor, CD sensors for measuring concrete quality, etc.) and a Time-Of-Flight (ToF) camera that forms the so-called range image (range portrait). The calculation of depth and distances is provided using the "flight time" (ToF) measurement technology, which originates from the algorithms used in radars. Due to this, a range image is formed, similar to radar portraits, except that a light pulse is used to build it instead of a radio frequency signal.

The drone can provide and maintain stable contact with measured surfaces with a pressure force of 1 kg, measured and monitored in real time. Thanks to this unique technology and robotic positioning system, the drone can automatically place a pair of US sensors at a distance of 25 to 100 cm with a selectable sampling pitch, explained on the Neabotics website.

According to the manufacturer, with the help of this specialized UAV, it is possible to seriously simplify checks in dangerous environments, such as high-altitude structures or confined spaces. There is no need to build forests and send a person with equipment to them - the drone will do everything faster and better, the developers say.

By May 2024, there is no information on the timing of the start of sales of this drone.[1]
