2024: Product Release

In mid-June 2024, Endless OS Foundation announced the release of a public version of the free OS for learning, creating and working Endless OS. This OS provides a complete set of tools for working right from the moment of installation, including Endless Key for study and research, LibreOffice office suite, Chromium browser, Decibels audio player, Videos video player and a number of other specialized programs.

Based on the Debian GNU/Linux 12 "Bookworm" series of operating systems, Endless OS 6 appeared more than a year after Endless OS 5 and features an improved look for all major applications, and also gives the user access to the GNOME 43 desktop design series, which includes new dark style settings, improved screenshot and screen recording function, as well as updated applications.

Endless OS 6 combines applications from the GNOME 43 environment with applications from the latest version of GNOME 46.1. In particular, it includes the GNOME 46.1 calculator, GNOME 46.1 text editor, Epiphany Web browser (GNOME Web) 46.0, Decibels 46.0 music player and Loupe 46.2.

The remaining applications and utilities are taken from the GNOME 43 series, with the exception of the GNOME Software application store, which is included in the GNOME 45 package. This OS also comes with the latest LibreOffice 24.2 office suite and Chromium 124 as the default web browser, as well as its own Endless Key educational application.

Endless OS 6 runs on the Linux 6.5 kernel and comes with PipeWire 1.0 for improved audio processing. In addition, the developers promise that this OS copes with memory (RAM) problems much better than previous versions.[1]
