2024: Establishment of the Centre

On June 18, 2024, Rostec announced the creation of the Central Design Bureau (TsKB) for machine tool construction. This is an important step aimed at the transition of domestic industry to Russian computer-aided design (CAD) systems, the state corporation said. The new bureau will bring together 130 specialists from various enterprises of the STAN holding.

By mid-June 2024, the Central Design Bureau is already developing a number-controlled lathe (CNC) for the automotive industry and a CNC carousel for general engineering. In the near future, two more new developments will be presented.

As stated on the Rostec website, the enterprises of the STAN holding produce more than 20 models of machine tools and their modifications, including milling, turning, grinding, portal machining centers and horizontal boring machines. Holding machines are widely used in the aviation and engine-building industries, as well as in helicopter engineering and general engineering.

One of the key tasks of the new bureau will be the introduction of a unified system for cataloguing and archiving machine data, which will allow you to switch from European software to the Russian T-Flex system and the PDM system for managing all product information. As noted on the website of the state corporation, the first stage of the transition will be the integration of the Central Design Bureau into the process of developing a lathe with NC model 1728 for complex processing of parts such as flanges, shafts and hubs.

Today, the Russian industry is developing dynamically and needs modern means of production. The creation of the Central Design Bureau is a strategic step for the STAN holding, aimed at strengthening the company's leadership position in the industry, "said Semyon Yakubov, Managing Director for Machine Tools and Special Projects at Rostec State Corporation.

According to Yakubov, the Central Design Bureau will become a center of competence in the field of machine tool building, where advanced solutions will be developed to increase the competitiveness of Russian enterprises.^[1]
