Federal agency (Asteros.EDU) by training

The federal agency by training of the Russian Federation provided a number of universities with the solution Asteros.EDU - the system of distance learning. The developer and the implementer in the project Asteros company.

Background

Creation of conditions for receiving more available and quality education for students of the Russian universities demanded the innovation approach and the Federal agency by training of the Russian Federation initiated creation of a system of distance learning of national scale.

Implementation

The system concept of distance learning (SDO) was developed by St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU). Specialists of Asteros developed the necessary software – Asteros.EDU.

Structure

A system has the centralized IT architecture. The core of a multiservice data network, the main and reserve DPCs, are in St. Petersburg State University. Based on SPbSU all subsystems of the complete solution also work: system of distance learning Asteros.EDU, management system for educational process, interactive training and video conferencing. In other universities specialists of Asteros performed works on creation of multiservice networks, working classes with the systems of a video conferencing and connected them to central node of SDO. Such architecture allows to remove a shortage problem in regions of highly skilled IT specialists for support of a system and to reduce the cost of ownership of the solution.

Results

Now the space of the Asteros.EDU system includes more than ten Russian universities. IT solution contains more than 1000 different specialties rates, and training in it well to more than 30 thousand to students.
