Digital Energy Region

2024: The state project "Digital Energy Region" for 10 billion rubles was launched in Chuvashia

On June 21, 2024, it became known that the state project "Digital Energy Region" was launched in Chuvashia, aimed at modernizing the region's energy systems. The initiative covers the Cheboksary agglomeration and will be extended to the entire republic in the future.

The goal of the project is to create a software and hardware complex for managing power grids with the introduction of artificial intelligence elements.

Cheboksary, Republic of Chuvashia, Russia

The former head of the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Chuvashia, acting by June 2024, the director of the TEP-Generation company, Alexander Kondratyev, said that the costs of the project would amount to about 10 billion rubles. He stressed that the bulk of these funds will be used to modernize outdated equipment and install digital metering devices.

According to TASS, the pilot stage of the project was implemented in 2022-2023 in the Novy Gorod microdistrict in Cheboksary. As part of this stage, a geo-information system was introduced to certify power grid facilities and display them on a city map. The head of Chuvashia, Oleg Nikolaev, noted that these developments will be extended to other municipalities of the agglomeration.

According to Kondratyev, the main task of the project is to increase efficiency in restoring power supply in case of accidents. The average time to eliminate accidents at the moment is about three hours, which is associated with outdated equipment and an imperfect system for transmitting information about an emergency.

It is assumed that the implementation of the project in the Cheboksary agglomeration will reduce the time for eliminating accidents by 20%, reduce electricity losses by 15%, and also attract about 3 billion rubles of extra-budgetary investments. The introduction of digital metering devices will automatically unload meter readings and monitor parameters in networks.[1]
