2024: Product Announcement

At the end of June 2024, Sleep Number released a smart bed that can track sleep phases and regulate the temperature and elasticity of the mattress. The new sleeper will cost less than $1,000, the press release said. Although the fashionable novelty is quite expensive compared to ordinary beds, it is still significantly cheaper than a number of comparable competitors.

For example, rival dig Eight Sleep, which makes smart mattress covers, reckons the new Pod 3 case should start at $2,195 (starting with a smaller version) and the newest Pod 4 case should start at $2,449. Meanwhile, the Sleep Number smart bed (model c1) costs just $599 in the case of a double bed model, while a king size bed model can be bought for $999.

The Sleep Number c1 smart bed offers customers personalized analysis of sleep time and health information through the app. The bed automatically adjusts its performance overnight, allowing users to set the perfect level of stiffness and even change the sides of the bed for more comfortable sleep. However, the c1 model uses only a layer of ceramic gel that reduces heat, unlike the Eight Sleep smart mattress holders, which use built-in high-end temperature sensors and a water pump to automatically adjust.

The Sleep Number c1 smart bed is the latest addition to the Sleep Number Classic Series smart bed collection. This is the third smart bed under $2,000 released by Sleep Number. The manufacturer says the smart bed can be purchased directly from the company's website, as well as from various stores that partner with Sleep Number.^[1]
