2024: Publication of data on digitalization of the sphere of ritual services in the Moscow region
On June 24, 2024, it became known that digital technologies in the field of ritual services are being actively introduced in the Moscow Region, significantly improving the process of providing these services to the population. In 2023, more than 900 thousand residents of the region used the new online service for searching for burials.
According to the Moskovskaya Gazeta newspaper, the process of digitalization of the ritual sphere in Russia began in 2016 at the initiative of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. In the Moscow region, this process has achieved significant success, told the GBU MO "Center for Memorial Services." As part of the program, a large-scale inventory is being carried out at the cemeteries of the region, data on each burial are rechecked and entered into the Regional Geoinformation System (RGIS).
In 2024, more and more municipal services in the field of burial and funeral work are transferred to electronic format. Through the regional portal of public services, you can apply for a place in the cemetery, install a fence or tombstone, as well as change the status of the burial. Electronic services are becoming more convenient, and their functionality is gradually expanding.
According to the Main Directorate of Regional Security of the Moscow Region, digitized registers of cemeteries and burial sites have already been placed in the RGIS. Updating of registers is carried out online based on data from local governments. The collection of burial data is carried out at least once every three years and is synchronized with the RGIS.
It is noted that the digitalization of the ritual sphere pursues several goals: increasing the convenience for relatives and friends of the deceased, streamlining the funeral sphere and protecting citizens from unscrupulous persons. In the Moscow region, places are provided for various types of burials free of charge if there are appropriate merits of the deceased to the Russian Federation or the region.[1]
