2024: Product Announcement

At the end of June 2024, the Chinese company iFlytek introduced a large language model (LLM) called Spark-Desk V4.0. It is argued that it surpasses GPT-4 in terms of logic of reasoning, mathematical abilities, generation of texts and understanding of language.

iFlytek, a voice recognition technology firm, announced Spark-Desk as a competitor to ChatGPT in May 2023. Then the chairman of the board of iFlytek Liu Qingfeng (Liu Qingfeng) stated that the goal of the project was to surpass the capabilities of OpenAI in Chinese and achieve ChatGPT standards in English.

The impact of this generative AI technology is no less important than the advent of a personal computer or the Internet. We must do everything possible to learn from ChatGPT and strive to surpass it, "Qingfeng said.

Since the release of the original version, the Spark-Desk model has been actively refined and improved. The Spark-Desk modification V4.0 supports dialogue in 74 languages and dialects, and also effectively copes with the problem of speech recognition in a very noisy environment. In addition, LLM has implemented advanced speech-to-text technology for complex scenarios - for which it has received many international awards in the field of artificial intelligence.

Qingfeng says that as of mid-2024, Spark-Desk V4.0 not only leads eight major international tests, outperforming other Chinese AI models, but also outpaces GPT-4 Turbo in a number of areas. In addition, there is talk of a rapid expansion of the Spark ecosystem. In the first five months of 2024, the number of developers using this model increased from 5.98 million to 7.02 million. At the same time, the number of foreign developers, according to iFlytek, exceeded 400 thousand[1]
