2024: Product Announcement
At the end of June 2024, the Chinese company Yusur announced the K2-Pro processor, which is expected to upend the data center (data center) market. This product is able to speed up the execution of various tasks, eliminating bottlenecks in the operation of server platforms.
K2-Pro is a DPU, or Data Processing Unit. Such solutions function in tandem with central (CPU) and graphics (GPU) processors to improve computational performance and maintain increasingly complex workloads, including those related to artificial intelligence. DPUs can be tasked with tasks such as data transfer, security, compression, analytics, and information encryption. This reduces the CPU load, which increases server efficiency.
Startup Yusur, backed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, says the K2-Pro product is capable of handling up to 80 million packets per second with a combined network bandwidth of up to 200 Gbps. Compared to the previous version of the chip (K2), released in 2022, the new solution provides a 30 percent reduction in power consumption.
The K2-Pro is based on a software-defined KPU architecture with a set of instructions of its own design Yusur. Various application scenarios are supported, including virtualization, security, data transfer, etc. It is assumed that K2-Pro will become an alternative to DPU solutions, and in the Nvidia Intel AMD segment. data centers Zheng Weimin, a specialist at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at Tsinghua University, said he China seeks to break the monopoly of foreign companies in the DPU sector in order to ensure the security and independent development of computing technologies.[1]
