2024: Instruction of the President of the Russian Federation on the creation of the platform
In early July 2024, the president Russia Vladimir Putin instructed the government to develop and launch the "New BRICS Technological Platform" in order to expand the bloc's influence in the international arena. The corresponding order was announced at a meeting of the supervisory board Agencies for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and published on the Kremlin website.
According to RIA Novosti, the Russian government, together with the autonomous non-profit organizations Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects and the Platform of the National Technological Initiative, should consider the creation of a coordinating organization for the implementation of this initiative by August 1, 2024. The work will also involve interested state corporations and companies with state participation.
The goal of creating a new platform is to strengthen the position of the BRICS countries in the global economy through the introduction of high-tech solutions and innovations. As part of the order, the government needs to determine the sources of funding, develop an activity plan and establish a model for the interaction of the new structure with the participants in the initiative.
At a press conference following the BRICS summit, Putin stressed the importance of continuing to expand the bloc's influence in the world. He noted that special attention will be paid to interaction with new BRICS members, as well as with those countries that will cooperate with the organization in the BRICS-outreach format. The Russian leader also expressed confidence that initiatives like the BRICS New Technology Platform will help strengthen economic cooperation and accelerate the technological development of the participating countries.
The launch of the new technology platform is also part of efforts to build closer ties between the BRICS states and implement joint projects in various industries.[1]
