2022: VIZ-Steel implements RFID tags for steel roll positioning

VIZ-Steel is the world's leading and largest Russian manufacturer of transformer steel.

The company needed a system designed to automatically record the placement of products in the work in progress of the CKP finishing area. She had to solve the following problems:

• Improve the efficiency of the WO;
• Reduce product accounting time;
• Create a 2D product location map;
• Generate a report on the current status of the rolls.

SML has developed an automatic system for recording and positioning the products of the finishing area with the following functionality:

• Marking of RFID rolls with labels;
• Automatic identification of the roll carried by the crane by RFID;
• Automatic identification of the roll storage location;
• Cartographic marking of CS warehouses;
• Manual adjustments of the task parameters by the crane operator;
• Manual change of roll characteristics (defect, weight, etc.);
• Logs all roll movements and changes.
