2023: Rising demand for Thai massage

At the end of 2023, the volume of consumption of Thai massage salon services in Russia amounted to 36.3 rubles per capita. For comparison, a year earlier this figure was estimated at 30.2 rubles per person. Thus, an increase of about 20% was recorded. The corresponding data are given in a study by GuideMarket, the results of which were released on May 30, 2024.

Traditionally, women are the main consumers of Thai massage services in Russia. At the same time, there is an increase in demand for such services from representatives of a strong half of humanity. In particular, as stated in the review, in June 2023, men began to go for massages twice as often and 25% more often to spa establishments compared to the same period in 2022. To attract more visitors, Thai massage salons expand their range of services by adding other health treatments - peels, wraps, aromaparenias, etc. Some companies also launch sales of related products such as natural Thai cosmetics, eco-products, etc.

The report says that in 2019, the volume of consumption of Thai massage salons in Russia was approximately 19.9 rubles per capita. In 2020, against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, a decrease in the indicator was recorded to 16.9 rubles per person. In 2021-2023, the market showed stable growth.

The study says that in the context of the crisis and strong psychological burden among Russians, programs focusing on psychological and emotional well-being became the most in demand. At the same time, Thai massage is perceived by the majority of residents of the Russian Federation as one of the varieties of exotic recreation. Major market players strive to develop personalized programs that take into account the general health of the client.[1]
