IBM Power7 is a basis of EDMS, a part of the front office and analytical systems of Alfa-Bank

The IBM corporation and Alfa-Bank announced contract signature on implementation of the POWER7 midrange-servers which will become a basis of the workflow system, parts of the front office and analytical systems of Alfa-Bank. Project implementation will allow bank to increase the number of the processed transactions, to increase efficiency of interaction of internal divisions of bank and service rate of clients.

The project is executed by forces of specialists of the Information technologies Block of Alfa-Bank and the business partner of IBM, Diona Holding company.

Alfa-Bank is the largest private bank of Russia which branch network includes 331 department and office across Russia and abroad. Dynamic business development of Alfa-Bank and active growth of a branch network delivered a problem of performance improvement of workflow systems and the front office before the management of the Information technologies Block of bank. The decision to increase the power of a hardware platform at simultaneous increase in level of its technical characteristics – to pass to the POWER7 server platform was made.

Alfa-Bank works on the POWER server platform within 10 years. Systems which are released in 2010 based on POWER7 processors provide protection of investments into information technologies. As a result of upgrade of a hardware complex of Alfa-Bank performance of systems during the work with customer bases of data will grow to POWER7 twice. The new systems have a possibility of quadruple accumulation of power, at the same time their requirements for the square at 50%, and energy consumption 60% less in comparison with previous.

One of the main features of the project is a tough implementation time. The project is going to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter 2010.
