Severstal builds data warehouse on Arenadata product stack

2024: Building a Platform on Arenadata Solutions

Severstal is building a data storage and analysis platform based on the Arenadata Group product stack, which announced this on July 11, 2024. Implementation is carried out by Severstal-Infok, Severstal's information and communication technology center. The joint solution will be a complete replacement of the data warehouse based on SAP BW with the processes of modeling objects, transferring objects between systems, maintaining ETL processes, working with data.

The SAP BW migration challenge faced Severstal at the end of 2022. To achieve technological sovereignty, it was decided to build its own comprehensive solution that combines several components: from a data warehouse to a content generator. To solve the problem, the Arenadata product stack was selected: · DBMSrenadata DB, Arenadata QuickMarts for storing and processing data at different storage levels; · Arenadata Streaming · system for real-time streaming; · Arenadata Catalog to manage the company's information assets and maintain a corporate business glossary in a single interface.

Arenadata's extensive expertise in building data warehouses and Severstal's unique industrial experience in building its own corporate storage and creating data warehouse content have united to create an industrial domestic solution, "said Sergey Gerasimov, Head of the Severstal-Infocom Data Structure and Quality Center.

As of July 2024, the process of deploying the infrastructure is underway and a roadmap for the development of the data warehouse has been worked out. In the future, an alternative data warehouse will become a single source of truth for several Severgroup companies, aggregating data flows across 15 functional areas, including production, finance, controlling, treasury, investments, procurement.

Together with Severstal, we are building a solution that will help import the SAP BW solution in the corporate data warehouse segment. Based on Arenadata products, the architecture is being developed and the basic QCD solution is being tested.
