The decision to migrate from SAP BW was made by Severstal management at the end of 2022 as part of a strategy to achieve technological sovereignty. To implement the project, the Arenadata complex of products was chosen, including DBMS Arenadata DB Arenadata QuickMarts both for storing and processing data, a system Arenadata Streaming for real-time streaming processing, as well as Arenadata Catalog for managing information assets and maintaining a corporate business glossary.

Sergey Gerasimov, Head of the Severstal Infocom Data Structure and Quality Center, noted that combining Arenadata's expertise in building data warehouses and Severstal's unique experience will create an effective domestic industrial solution.

Severstal is deploying infrastructure and developing a roadmap for data warehouse development. In the future, the new system will become a single source of information for several Severgroup companies, aggregating data flows across 15 functional areas, including production, finance, controlling, treasury, investments and procurement.

Maxim Vlasyuk, Director of the Arenadata Department for Industrial Sector, stressed that the solution being created will help import substitution of SAP BW in the segment of corporate data storage. He also noted that the implementation process is facilitated by an experienced team, Arenadata's extensive ecosystem, its own support service and training centre.
