2024: Product Announcement

On June 17, 2024, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the development of a new Perun attack-transport unmanned aerial vehicle capable of not only performing combat missions, but also evacuating the wounded from the battlefield. The development, carried out by specialists of the Dnipro group of forces, is equipped with Russian software and can carry goods weighing up to 200 kg.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Perun runs on Russian software, making it independent of imported technologies. This is especially important under international sanctions, as it ensures the stability and autonomy of an unmanned aerial vehicle, as well as safety and protection from possible external interventions. Its functionality includes operational heavy cargo delivery, reconnaissance missions, search and rescue operations, including casualty evacuations, as well as dropping amphibious assault teams behind enemy lines. An unmanned aerial vehicle can significantly increase the effectiveness of military operations.

The ministry's message emphasizes that Perun's combat capabilities have already passed successful tests at the training ground. An anti-tank missile launcher (ATGM) with a guided missile was installed on the drone, and shots were fired first from the ground and then in the air. The missile is adjusted using the remote control, which ensures high accuracy and safety of the operator.

The Ministry of Defense noted that in addition to ATGM, the development team wants to test a machine gun and an installation for launching unguided aircraft missiles in relation to a new unmanned vehicle. Such a drone will find use in each unit in different areas of the special operation.[1]
