The Russian Navigation Technologies (RNT) company announced project completion on implementation of an end-to-end system of a GLONASS/GPS of monitoring and control Avtotreker in Severstal company, one their largest enterprises of the real sector of the Russian economy.
Within the project the heavy-load BelAZ dump trucks, fuelers, other special equipment and vehicles involved in production processes of Severstal company – the enterprise with a full metallurgical stroke and wide range of products are connected to a monitoring system (hot-rolled and cold-rolled rolled steel, bent profiles and pipes, long products, high-strength steel of different brands, big group of the coke-chemical and accompanying products). Along with the intelligent onboard blocks (OB) of the Avtotreker system, on these fuel flow sensors were also installed to the CU. Besides, the modern dispatching center allowing to control location, movements and outages of technology, to obtain exact data on actual vehicle mileage, dynamics of fuel consumption, etc. is created.
Servicing the huge metallurgical enterprise, cargo transport and special equipment leave from time to time a coverage of cellular networks on which there is a data exchange between the CU and the dispatching center. For the Avtotreker system such operation mode does not create any problems as its onboard blocks not only take readings of the connected sensors, but also make local processing of primary data. The logic of this processing set by the rules loaded into BB completely remains even then when BB works in a standalone mode, at the same time primary data and results of processing are automatically transferred to the dispatching center – as soon as communication is reestablished. In particular, rules allow to describe a machine route, to define inadmissible deviations from it, to set the critical areas and threshold parameter values requiring special processing. Analyzing the sequences of the events connected with different sensors one or several the CU, the onboard block reveals emergency situations and reacts to them. And set and indicators of such situations, and reactions to them are also set by rules. At such system architecture of monitoring influence of the center of processing on driving in real time is not critical though the center can issue the commands which are not provided by rules and also to apply additional rules.
Use of these regular systems capabilities Avtotreker allowed to fix completely such earlier unsolvable problems as unnecessary runs, draining of fuel, a run addition, etc. Any enterprise having the considerable transport park faces these abuses. But in the metallurgical industry the damage is especially high – because of the big scale of activity of the enterprises, features of work of transport and special equipment and also the high specific consumption of fuel and lubricants characteristic of the heavy-load equipment. Now at any time the manager precisely knows where there is each machine whether there are any deviations from a task. Moreover, at the end of each change reports and reports, allowing to make the correct calculation with each driver, to estimate efficiency of use of the equipment automatically form.
After the monitoring system was transferred to the mode of commercial operation and was trained the customer's employees, specialists of Severstal integrated this system with a system "1C: Control of transport". Thus, input in it of data on the planned and actual vehicle mileage, fuel use, work of drivers was completely automated. As a result, the efficiency of preparation of the finance documents based on this information increased, the problems connected with inevitable errors of input of primary data manually completely disappeared.
"The Severstal company makes considerable efforts for quality improvement of management and efficiency of basic processes. The work of transport which is a binding part of these processes should not remain "a black hole" which uncontrollable absorbs resources, raises costs, does not allow to implement fair schemes of motivation, – Vladimir Fot, the deputy head of department of transport on automobile transportations of Severstal company says. – We consider transport monitoring system how a method it is essential to increase efficiency of use of transport. Therefore we need the modern solution differing in flexibility, scalability and reliability, completely considering features of the used equipment and also which underwent trial operation at the enterprises of the industry. And the solution it had to fit into our IT infrastructure and be integrated with corporate systems of resource management of the enterprise. Therefore we also selected Avtotreker.
"In many industries impossibility it is essential to increase efficiency of use of the transport park traditionally it is perceived as something inevitable. It leads to the fact that in schedule system considerable costs are initially put; the enterprise buys expensive cars, them more than it is necessary, but they for some reason do not give the planned return. Administration, being guided by average values, looks at any driver with suspicion – as on the violator that it, of course, creates an intense situation in collective. The scale of a problem puts it in one row with the high cost of fuel and lubricants, quality of spare parts, etc, – Nechayev Ivan, the chief executive of Russian Navigation Technologies company says. – Using a monitoring system the enterprise can exclude independently and completely at once all types of abuses on transport, having removed their basis. Moreover, complete transition to objective data turns control of transport from the archaic chronically inefficient and constantly criticized management subsystem into a positive example by which other divisions of the enterprise can be guided. This change happens almost in one step, opening a field of new opportunities for the further growth of efficiency. The project in Severstal perfectly illustrates this rule".
