Frozen Semi-Finished Products (Russian Market)

2023: Frozen semi-finished products market growth by 10.6% to RUB 300 bn

At the end of 2023, the volume of the Russian market for frozen semi-finished products reached approximately 300 billion rubles. This is 10.6% more compared to the previous year, when the indicator was estimated at 271 billion rubles. Market data is provided in the NeoAnalytics review published on July 10, 2024.

The statistics cover a wide range of frozen products. These are flour semi-finished products, including dumplings, mushrooms, vegetables and berries, bakery products, culinary meat and meat-containing products (large, small and chopped), etc. It is noted that these products always have demand from buyers. Against the background of positive dynamics of the main macroeconomic indicators, such as an increase in retail turnover and cash income of the population, the demand for frozen semi-finished products in Russia began to increase.

The report said that the largest market share is flour frozen semi-finished products, since they belong to traditional Russian cuisine. However, this segment is stagnating, as consumers prefer the preservation of the classic taste of dumplings and are extremely reluctant to try new variations. In such a situation, manufacturers switch their attention to the release of new products in other segments of the semi-finished product market.

Data from a NeoAnalytics study suggests that the market for frozen semi-finished products is weaker in small cities than in megacities. Its individual segments are developing due to the expansion of federal supermarket chains, which are the main channel for the sale of these products in retail trade. In the future, analysts believe, the industry will continue to demonstrate positive dynamics. The growth of the market will come at the expense of large cities and the middle class of consumers.[1]
