2024: Introduction of fake passport detection module for ATMs and self-service terminals

An embedded module for detecting fake passports for creating "smart" ATMs and self-service terminals has appeared on the Russian market. Smart Engines reported this on July 18, 2024.

Thanks to a small reader with built-in, AI banks cellular operators, transport infrastructure companies, manufacturers ACS and other organizations will be able to create the latest generation of self-service terminals.

Now customers wishing to get a pass to the enterprise, purchase a train ticket, issue a SIM card or open a bank account will not have to stand in long queues or visit offices. In terminals equipped with a Smart Engines module, it is enough to attach a passport or any other identity document to a special scanner.

Created by scientists and engineers of Smart Engines and Intec Group of Companies, the module solves two tasks at the same time - it extracts the contents of documents and enters data into the corresponding fields, and also performs authentication. The embedded AI checks the document in three ranges - optical, ultraviolet (UV), infrared (IR) - and reveals more than 60 signs of counterfeiting. The system analyzes the originality and security elements of the document form (protective fluorescent fibers, fluorescent ink, etc.), detects mechanical interventions in the document itself, including photo re-mapping and other data manipulations. In addition, the AI also cross-validates the main spread data with the data of the machine-readable area (MFZ), checks the chip and the validity of the document.

The module allows you to check for authenticity not only documents of the Russian Federation, but also passports of foreigners of all countries of the world and national certificates of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan.
