Biography

2024: Major fraud arrest

On July 19, 2024, Yaroslav Stanishevsky, director of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies and Nanotechnology (IBHTN) of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, was sent under house arrest for 23 days on charges of major fraud. The corresponding decision was made by the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the court, Yaroslav Stanishevsky was charged under the article on fraud on an especially large scale. According to the Criminal Code of Russia, this crime provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to ten years.

The investigation claims that Yaroslav Stanishevsky, together with other persons, carried out the theft of funds allocated as subsidies for the implementation of various programs. At the same time, organizations were provided with deliberately false information about the criteria for participation in these programs.

As part of the chosen preventive measure, the court imposed a number of restrictions on the accused. Yaroslav Stanishevsky is forbidden to leave and change his place of residence without the written permission of the investigator. In addition, he is forbidden to communicate with anyone, with the exception of his defenders and close relatives living with him.

Yaroslav Mikhailovich Stanishevsky, Doctor of Chemical Sciences and Professor, has headed the IBHTN since 2015. His scientific activities focus on the creation of highly sensitive test systems for the diagnosis and detection of markers of infectious and autoimmune diseases. In addition, research interests cover the creation of biopharmaceuticals, as well as the synthesis of silver, gold, selenium nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes and other elements and compounds for use in medicine and pharmaceuticals.[1]
