2024: RED Expert 2024.07

On July 24, 2024, RED SOFTWARE announced the release of the July update of the multi-platform DBMS manager. RED Expert 2024.07 offers users an updated interface: the design of light and dark themes has been updated, the arrangement of elements has been optimized, the ability to customize the environment for yourself has been added. The functionality for working with ER-diagrams has been expanded: more tools are available for visualizing and automating processes.

According to the company, the updated RED Expert interface was created taking into account feedback from users, all changes were made on the basis of the current principles of UI and UX design. The icons found a unified style and became intuitive. The logic of placing menu items and tools on working panels has been redesigned: the most used are placed on foreground, and unclaimed ones are excluded or hidden in sub-paragraphs.

Work was carried out on the following elements of the environment:

Added the ability to display column folders, constraints, indexes, and triggers for tables in the connection tree.

You can customize the list of script tools in the Query Editor toolbar. Also, now the "Execute" button allows you to execute both the selected script and all scripts, if nothing was previously highlighted. A panel with basic connection information appeared. Added the ability to quickly create a bug report when errors occur. A dark theme has been revised for the entire environment of RED Expert. You can switch to the updated design by going to the menu: System > Settings > Display settings.

The built-in tool for creating ER diagrams helps you visually design databases. The July update added functionality to more easily display information, edit and quickly update the ER chart when making changes to the database.

The July update was developed based on the results of a comprehensive study conducted among active RED users

The project included several stages:

• First stage. Development of prototypes of the RED environment. The internal working group of RED SOFT studied the current client experience and prepared a pre-release version with an updated interface: rendering has changed, more comfortable color solutions have been selected, other icons have been developed in the same style.
• Second stage. Open beta test. Two release candidates of RED Expert were transferred to active users. Developers and administrators DBMS of Red and took part in the beta test Database. Firebird After evaluating the functionality of the prototypes, users took a survey, sharing feedback and offering additional ideas to optimize the RED environment
• Third stage. Creation of RED Expert 2024.07. Based on the expanded feedback, the team corrected the bugs found by the community, made the improvements that users asked for, and released RED Expert 2024.07 on the market.
