Biography

2024: Appointment as CEO of Check Point Software Technologies

On July 24, 2024, Check Point Software Technologies, a provider of cybersecurity solutions, announced the appointment of a new CEO. It was Nadav Zafrir, who will replace the founder Gil Shwed in this post.

Zafrir is the co-founder and managing partner of Team8, an Israeli company that creates and invests in startups specializing in cybersecurity, data and artificial intelligence, financial technology and digital healthcare. Zafrir served 25 years in the Israel Defense Forces, retiring with the rank of brigadier general. Since 2019, he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of SolarEdge Technologies, a leading company in the field of smart power.

Zafrir will take over as CEO of Check Point in December 2024. In addition, he will join the board of directors of this company after receiving appropriate approval from shareholders.

In turn, Gil Shwed will become executive chairman of Check Point's board of directors. The Swede is considered the creator of a modern firewall, and also received a number of patents, including Stateful Inspection (SIP) technology. He is the chairman of Tel Aviv University's Youth Board of Trustees, a member of the university's Board of Governors, and the founder of the Check Point Institute for Information Security. In addition to the tog, the Swede heads the board of directors of the Yeholot association, founded by the Rashi Foundation.^[1]
