Perfume and cosmetic chain L'Occitane, which changed store signs to L'Occitan in the summer of 2022, is forced to change its brand to a new one, SoBeautiful, at the request of the parent company.

Resumption of work in Russia under the L'Occitan brand

As it became known on June 8, 2022, the French manufacturer of cosmetics and perfumes L'Occitane resumed work in Russia under a new brand. The company closed its stores in the Russian Federation in April 2022 after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine.

A RIA Novosti correspondent contacted L'Occitane technical support service. Representatives of the brand said that all stores of the chain returned to the domestic market called "L'Occitan." This decision was made in connection with the registration of the Russian division of the company as a separate legal entity.

French cosmetics manufacturer L'Occitane resumed work in Russia under a new brand

The range of products in them remained the same and will continue to be replenished. Discount cards and gift certificates that were received by buyers before the network closed remain valid.

The agency's journalist also visited stores in the Moscow shopping centers Aviapark and Evropeisky. It is reported that the prices of goods remained the same.

Sale of business in Russia to local top managers with the right to buy back until 2030

In March 2023, it became known that L'Occitane sold its business in Russia with the right to buy back until 2030. The company estimated the fair value of the asset in Russia at €44.5 million. Russian top managers of the company became the new owners of the business in June 2022.

The closure of all stores in Russia after the start of a special operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine

In April 2022, L'Occitane announced the closure of all its stores and online stores in Russia. In that press release, the company said that over the past few weeks, the company "significantly curtailed business operations in Russia in response to the tragedy for the population of Ukraine."

At the beginning of 2022, 112 L'Occitane stores were opened in the Russian Federation, approximately 700 people were employed in them.

Foreign perfume and cosmetic companies began to reduce their presence in Russia against the backdrop of a military operation in Ukraine, which led to the introduction of large-scale economic sanctions against Moscow by Western countries. In particular, the British manufacturer of perfumes and cosmetics Lush in April 2022 announced that it would close a third of stores in Russia and lay off about 200 employees after suspending the supply of products to the country.[1]

In 2010, the company's products are represented in the markets of 85 countries.

L'Occitane's global chain has more than a thousand stores and two hundred and fifty personalized corners. More than fifty L'Occitane stores have already been opened in Russia in 20 regions, and their network continues to expand.
