On August 7, 2024, the company Yandex"" announced the launch of a new passenger transportation service called "Lucky." This low-cost taxi service is designed to offer users trips at prices lower than in the economy tariff Yandex.Taxi"."

The new service is already available in several dozen Russian cities, including both megacities and small settlements. The geography of the presence of "Lucky" coincides with the coverage area of ​ ​ Yandex.Taxi.

The main difference between the new service is lower travel prices compared even to the economy tariff at Yandex Taxi. In return, users will have to wait a little longer for the car to arrive. The exact waiting time varies by city and route, averaging 3-12 minutes more than the standard service.

For the work of "Lucky" a separate mobile application was developed, available for download in the AppleApp Store and Google Play. By the time the service was launched, the number of app downloads on Google Play exceeded 1 million, and its rating was 4.8 out of 5 based on almost 70 thousand reviews.

Yandex notes that the car assignment algorithms are configured to minimize the "idle mileage" of drivers. Orders to Lucky will be transferred to the same drivers who are connected to Yandex Taxi and work in the Economy tariff.

To maintain the interest of drivers in fulfilling orders through a new service, the company reduced the commission by about 2 percentage points compared to the Economy tariff at Yandex Taxi.

The name "Lucky" is not new in the taxi market. Previously, an independent service worked under this brand, which Yandex tried to purchase twice. On the second attempt, Yandex managed to partially acquire the assets of Lucky, including a call center and a business for ordering cargo transportation.
