2024: FOSSA bought StackShare

On August 1, 2024, the FOSSA (Free and Open Source Software Auditing) platform announced the conclusion of an agreement to buy StackShare. The value and other terms of the transaction as of the specified date are not officially disclosed.

StackShare allows developers to discuss, track, and share the tools they use to build applications. The site covers a variety of development areas - from interface frameworks to cloud service providers. Yonas Beshawred, the sole founder of StackShare, told TechCrunch that he created the company because it was personally difficult for him to choose between many tools for creating web applications.

I learned that many other developers faced the same problem, and thought that the best solution would be to unite everyone into a single online community with a certain structure that simplifies the discussion of certain issues, says Beshored.

It is noted that just before the announcement of the deal, StackShare had more than 1.5 million registered developers, over 50 thousand company profiles, about 800 thousand active users per month and about 30 corporate clients. StackShare raised $12 million for development from a number of investors, including Cervin Ventures, Precursor Ventures, Headline and Gold House.

According to PitchBook analysts, the cost of StackShare at the time of signing the merger agreement with FOSSA could be about $20 million. In turn, the capitalization of the FOSSA platform exceeds $100 million. Kevin Wang, founder and CEO of FOSSA, said the acquisition of StackShare is driven by the need to improve transparency and tool management for developers in organizations.[1]
