It is noted that Uber drivers are switching to electric vehicles five times faster than owners of private vehicles. However, surveys suggest the key hurdles to switching to electrified machines remain the price and availability of funding. As part of the collaboration, Uber and BYD will stimulate electric car drivers with maintenance and insurance discounts, charging subsidies, etc.

In addition, the parties intend to cooperate in the development of BYD robotic cars, which will be operated on the Uber platform. With its advanced infrastructure, Uber is well positioned to scale up self-driving vehicle technology for customers around the world.
