2024: Seizure of property in Italy
On July 29, 2024, the Italian tax police seized real estate and assets of an unnamed Russian businessman worth approximately $44.4 million. According to the Florence prosecutor's office, the man was under investigation in Ukraine on suspicion of corruption, fraud and money laundering.
According to Reuters, referring to information received from informed sources, the person involved in the case is billionaire Alexei Fedorychev, who owns the historic Torre del Gallo castle in the capital of Tuscany. Fedorychev is the founder of Fedcom Group, a logistics, shipping and commodities trading company. In addition, since January 2022, he has been the president of the French basketball club Monaco. From 2004 to 2007, Fedorychev's structures owned a controlling stake in the Dynamo club (Moscow).
It is noted that the arrest of the assets of a Russian businessman was made at the request of the anti-corruption prosecutor's office of Ukraine. According to law enforcement agencies, Fedorychev's company, which owned a private sea terminal in the Odessa region, illegally issued the rights to receive part of the funds from port fees. The claimed damage is estimated at $6 million. However, according to the Italian prosecutor's office, Fedorichev reinvested the proceeds obtained illegally: he allegedly owns through a trust based in Florence, a large real estate complex in the Tuscan capital.
It is said that the castle of Torro del Gallo, which was seized, was built in the XII century. It is in Florence in the Archetri hills. The facility is located "in one of the most prestigious and sought-after places in the Tuscan capital." Fedorichev himself lives in the castle "from time to time."[1]
