2024: Start of production of power amplifiers on the traveling wave lamp

Holding "Russian Space Systems" in cooperation with enterprises of the radio-electronic industry organized the serial production of power amplifiers on a traveling wave lamp (LBV) of its own design. This equipment will be used in the creation of promising spacecraft of geostationary satellite constellations. This was reported to the RKS on August 6, 2024.

The power amplifier consists of a pre-amplifier, a linearizer, a power supply and a traveling wave lamp (LBV is an electric vacuum device in which the interaction of the traveling electromagnetic wave and electronic flux is used to generate and amplify microwave electromagnetic vibrations). The function of the amplifier is to amplify the signal received by the spacecraft from the transmitting ground stations and broadcast it to other stations that are part of the same space system. The equipment is installed in the target satellite equipment to provide digital television broadcasting, Internet access, fixed and mobile communication services.

The weight of the device is 4 kg, the service life is designed for 15 years of continuous operation. The main element - the traveling wave lamp - was developed by the partner of RKS - Almaz Research and Production Enterprise (part of the holding "State Roselectronics Corporation"). Rostec

Today, RKS are becoming the only supplier of power amplifiers on LBV for spacecraft, fully meeting the needs of the rocket and space industry,
said the director of projects for the creation of on-board equipment for communication, relay, search and rescue systems - Deputy General Designer of the RKS Alexander Kondrashov.

The development of RCC meets the high requirements for this kind of equipment and provides stable amplification of the radio signal with a minimum level of distortion, which improves the quality of telecommunications services. The device is planned to be installed on spacecraft of the Yamal, Express and Luch systems.
