2024: Production start-up

The St. Petersburg development team has begun serial production of Legionnaire lifting drones. The launch of production took place in August 2024.

Andrei Saleev, head of the separate division of the Quiet Wings Development Center, announced plans to produce 20 aircraft monthly in 2024. In 2025, production is planned to increase to 40 units per month.

The Legionnaire project was developed during the year. A key feature of the drone is the high degree of unification between electric and gasoline versions, as well as the maximum use of their own developments. According to Saleev, in the next five years the team intends to bring the share of domestic components to 85-90%.

The Legionnaire drone is designed to deliver goods to hard-to-reach and remote places. In addition, it is able to probe the area using a laser scanner and an aerial camera, as well as carry out video monitoring.

The design of the drone consists mainly of composite materials: Kevlar, glass fabric and resin. Most components, including power distribution and target load management boards, are manufactured in Russia. However, engines and regulators still have to be purchased abroad.

The crew, who have undergone special training, is able to assemble the Legionnaire in 15 minutes. This testifies to the high manufacturability and thoughtfulness of the design of the drone.

The Quiet Wings team won the next stage of the NTI Up Great technological competition for unmanned cargo transportation. For its development, the team received a prize fund of almost ₽30 million.

The launch of mass production of Legionnaire drones is part of a broader trend in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles in Russia. Thus, the Technopark of St. Petersburg selected 28 projects in the field of UAVs for further support and development.^[1]
