2024: Service Launch

In Russia, the online service "National Multiscaner" has begun to work in test mode, designed to check files for malicious software. This became known in August 2024.

The National Multiscaner checks files using antivirus programs from three Russian companies: Kaspersky Lab, Dr.Web and AVSoft. The service operator is ANO "NTC Central Committee."

The service offers two levels of access: anonymous and for registered users. Anonymous users can send files for static validation and receive minimal reports. Registered users have access to advanced features, including the ability to send files for validation using both static and dynamic methods, and to view complete file validation reports.

The results of the analysis are presented as a graphical element divided into three equal parts, each of which corresponds to the assessment of one of the participating systems of the project. For clarity, color encoding is used: green means that the file is recognized as safe, orange - untrusted, gray - unidentified.

The National Multiscaner supports popular browsers. The developers recommend using browsers with support for Russian certificates. It is also proposed to independently install Ministry of Digital Development security certificates on the Public services portal.

The size of the file being submitted for validation must not exceed 256 MB. Working with mobile browsers is not currently supported. Service link.

As CNews previously wrote, specialists from the Eighth Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) were engaged in the development of the service. And Positive Technologies security consultant Alexei Lukatsky wrote in his Telegram channel that the project cost the state ₽90 million.

The National Multiscaner project was developed within the framework of the Information Security federal project, which is part of the Digital Economy national program. It was originally planned to launch the service in 2019, but the dates were repeatedly postponed.[1][2][3][4]
