2024: What medical technology Google has spent billions of dollars on. List
Google is actively developing healthcare projects. Billions of dollars are allocated for these purposes, and artificial intelligence is considered one of the most promising technologies. At the end of July 2024, Bloomberg released a list of Google medical initiatives, some of which were declared unsuccessful and curtailed.
· May 2008: Google Health is a free platform for storing medical information. Users of the service could upload information about their health status and medical history to servers. The service ceased operation on January 1, 2012 due to low popularity.
· June 2013: Google Glass smart glasses for surgery. The initiative was curtailed in September 2023.
· January 2014: Verily smart contact lenses for minimally invasive control of glucose levels in the body of diabetics. The project was closed in November 2018 after clinical studies demonstrated reliability problems.
· September 2014: Liftware smart spoon for people with Parkinson's disease.
· October 2014: Nanoparticle tablet for early diagnosis of cancer, heart attacks and other severe diseases. Development ceased in January 2020.
· December 2015: Verb Surgical is a robotic surgery systems company founded by Verily and Johnson & Johnson.
· April 2017: Project Baseline - collecting data on the state of health of people.
· May 2018: microneedles for painless drug delivery - closed in January 2023.
· November 2019: Google Care Studio is a tool for finding medical records. The pilot project will be curtailed in 2023.
· 2016: ARDA is Google's AI model for detecting diabetic retinopathy.
· August 2023: AI Nurse medical system and AI-based Augmedix Go app
· December 2018: AlphaFold is an AI program for predicting the spatial structure of a protein.[1]
